03What moved inside the outline

Business Environment more than tripled, from 8% to 26%. In the 2026 outline it holds eight tasks: governance, compliance, change control, issues and impediments, risk, continuous improvement, organizational change, and changes in the outside business environment.

PMI's summary of the update names AI, sustainability and stakeholder engagement in project-based scenarios, a shift toward outcomes, value and business impact, and more adaptive, real-world project dynamics. In the outline itself, value-based delivery, finance and closure each get a task of their own under Process.

The format: 180 questions, 10 of them unscored pretest items, in 240 minutes with two 10-minute breaks. Case or scenario items and graphic-based items are the new types; the full list is on PMP questions and time. The PMP study guide on this site is built on the 2026 domains and tasks.
